Ashley’s doses were changed to the Moeller regime as at two weeks ago.  this was not after discussion with his Endo but off my own back.  He felt that it was the morning dose that needed raising.  This is how he would have been dosed:

2am-3.75mg, 7am-7.50mg, 3.15pm-5mg

before that he had been taking 6.25mg at 7am.  I discussed with him changing to the x4 times per day regime at our first appointment.  However, when the 17 OHP results came back elevated he felt that the 7am dose just needed to be altered to stomp on the elevating androgens.  Ash’s blood tests were at 7.30am before med’s--so the rise in 17 OHP was occuring before his 7am dose for the most part.

When we finally got the results back I knew that if we did not go with the Moeller abstract and distribute his doses in the same way, we would not succeed.

I therefore planned his doses after calculating a sufficient dose raise after using the formula last used when he had the 15mg dose set last year.  The new dose came out at a totally daily dose of 17.50mg which I divided exactly per the Moeller abstract:

3am-6.25mg, 7am-5mg, 12noon-3.75mg, 5.30pm-2.50mg

(HCT-3am=33%,7am=30%,12noon=22%, 5.30pm=15%)

(FLORINEF-3am=33%,12noon=33%,5.30pm=33%)

Easy to calculate yourself.  However, difficult when your Doctor  then writes back and says he is worried that by dosing like this we will be suppressing GH.  I’ll leave the rest for you all to figure out as to how my line of thinking is going where that one is concerned--especially when we think about what is being achieved with 10pm dosing.  He feels I should stick with just raising the 7am dose for now.  All the Doctors have different ways of treating.  As this has not been tested long term in kids other than back then (we don’t have any long term data to tell us how those  kids in that abstract ended up do we?) 15 years ago--so some would be pretty reluctant to make a switch.  that’s why I say good luck in convincing your Endo.

Many parents use the boards to help and we all enjoy sharing our experiences and knowledge.
