To Laura K. re: circadian rhythm dosing

Hi Laura! Quite awhile ago I posted some questions regarding cortisol circadian rhythm dosing and through the course of many messages, I read all kinds of great info. In one of the messages, you posted that anyone could e-mail you specifics on their child and you would superimpose the current dosing schedule on the cir. rythm chart. Just wondering if you would mind doing that for our son’s dose schedule and whether or not you think that changing his schedule would be worthwhile, since he seems to be on quite a low daily dose of hydrocortisone.

Our son is 4yrs old & has salt-wasting CAH. Current med schedule: 1.7 mls Hydrocortisone (1mg/ml) three times daily ( 7 am, 4 pm and 12 am) and 1/4 tab Florinef (0.1mg tablets) once a day in the morning with breakfast.

We are going to see our endocrinologist on Thursday, so any new info you or anyone else could provide would be greatly appreciated. At our last app’t with him in March, he did not think there were any "good" studies supporting significant benefits of following the circadian rhythm dosing schedule. He didn’t want to see any of the studies that I printed from here since he doesn’t "trust" the internet for info and doesn’t encourage me to do so either. It was from here though that I learned that my son should wear a medic alert bracelet and carry solu-cortef.. Although our endo agreed to write prescriptions for these, he was not the one who even suggested them. I really value the opinions and knowledge that all of you CAH parents have gathered. We can certainly learn a lot from each other.

Sorry for the long message! Jill T.
