DebbiWWell, when I have asked early on, she felt that we would have time to get him to a doctor for them to give the injection. They won’t give the injection at school either. And based on previous situations that had the potential to be serious, the injection was never needed. When he broke his leg( or we suspected it was broken), we gave a stress oral dose and headed to the ER. I even had them do bloodwork to make sure he was handling it fine and he did. When he had rotavirus, he was not keeping meds down due to vomitting every 15 minutes. (We now have phenergan in the fridge.) He was admitted for observation, but he was never dehydrated or had bad blood levels as a result. Even as a baby with RSV, he was admitted for observation and he was fine. So, up to now, he was reacted to stress and responded well. And I have not pressed the matter.
To be honest, I know my doctor thinks we will give unnecessary injections. She alsways wnats to know how often since the last visit he was needed a stress dose. Perhaps she thinks we will panic and overmedicate and result in cushing’s symptoms.
