Normal ranges for 17-OHP
Aug. 26th, 2002   11:44am

My daughter’s 17-OHP levels are now 134. I’ve heard a lot about how over suppressed she is. And the most repeated ranges that I’ve heard recommended are between 500-1000.

Today I was just going through her lab work and I found this sheet containing reference ranges. It says ranges for normal full term infant between 1-12 months female is 13-106ng/dl with the mean at 31. It says levels increase after the first week of live with peak values ranging from 40-200 ng/dl between 30 and 60 days and values then decline to prepubertal range before one year. Thereafter for prepubertal children i.e 1-10 years it is between 3-90 ng/dl.

Thus far, all I’ve heard is the range of 500 - 1000 and I’m wondering now if I’ve been mistaken all along. Our endo insists that she is NOT over suppressed. She’s growing well and her weight gain is tapering off since I weaned her. She does look chubby but he says that is more a "chunky baby thing" than a cushnoid feature. According to these reference levels she would actually be a wee bit over the normal and that is good control.

I would really appreciate any comments .

Thanks
