re: Explaining SWCAH to teachers
Aug. 28th, 2002   5:00pm

My son doesn’t get his regular medications during school time. We dose at 8am-4pm-12mn.  He has been on this schedule since birth so the 12mn dose doesn’t even phase him.

I have also talked with the ambulance crew that would respond in the event of a crisis and they are aware of what needs to be done.(I provided them with the doctor’s instructions and a brochure on adrenal insufficiency.

He has a medical i.d. bracelet already.  I know I’m doing everything I can to protect him, but he has barely spent a day without us so handing his care over to the school (especially one that would rather get rid of him) has been frightening.

The only thing I’m concerned about is his Endo didn’t give the school permission to reduce fever or triple cortef.  I will have to clarify this with him.

Again, thank you for all your help.
