I would really not wait for labs before deciding to double or triple her corticosteroids.  She may have a delayed illness due to the Tylenol, but she definately needs her corticosteroids doubling or tripling in illness.  Doesn’t matter what it is.  She has a temp up and down then that is obviously a problem.  Whether it is viral or bacterial she needs extra cortisol.  Tylenol, (pamol here) are excellent med’s for taking a temperature down.  Whilst it is good to have a temperature to help with viral illness, this often resulted in febrile convulsions or fitting if it goes too high and that is not good either.  In fact it states on the sides of the bottles that if the symptoms persist to stop the med’s and to go back t the Doctor.  That is the reason why they advise this.  However, I would give the Tylenol in the beginnings of an illness when  the temp is very high to avoid fits and convulsions as they can lead to complications, but I would also give the extra corticosteroid also.

I really think your Doctor is quite naughty trying to differentiate which illness warrants doubling or tripling and which type of illness doesn’t.  They all cause stress on the body and need to be met with the same immune response which is  raised cortisol levels.  This is the natural immune response.  The whole reason why this is being dragged out is because the correct protocol is not being followed where increasing is concerned in my opinion.
