lauraMy daughter is also 8 (well nearly!) and when initially diagnosed was said to be non salt wasting however whenever her bloods were done all her levels were way too high and our Dr (Nick Shaw Birmingham childrens hospital UK) decided that although she wasn’t testing as a salt waster she must be losing some for her levels to be the way they were so on gut instinct he started her on fludrocortisone and her levels have been brilliant since! My biggest problem so far has been not the CAH but trying to get school to understand that her condition is just as serious if not more serious than diabetes but that I don’t need to go on every school trip they go on if she was unwell she wouldn’t be at school and that if she was involved in an accident to phone an ambulance and tell them she has adrenal insufficiancy there’s a fine line between protection and overprotection one I’m finding it hard to deal with as she spreads her wings and doesn’t want mum there all the time!!
Hope this has been of some use if you want to chat feel free to contact me I reply to my e mails when I can get on the computer kids and husband willing!!
