ER

I took my 5 month old son to the ER tonight. They checked his levels and everything was ok. I took him because he was vomiting and he would not take any food what so ever. A while back when we first found out that he had CAH the doctors told us that to check the levels properly that they could not do a heel stick that they would not get the same readings back as if they would do like an IV type stick in the vein. I don’t understand what the difference is. I just thought that blood was blood.  Why go through the time and pain of trying to find a vein if you could just do a 2 second heel stick?????????????????????????? I was just wondering.
