AdinaHFannie (Savannah) did fine. I gave her infant’s Advil right after (less than a minute after) the shot. She didn’t get a fever or have any reaction. I checked with the endo here, the pediatrician, and the one in NY and all said the same thing... don’t stress dose unless the fever goes above 101 or vomiting. She didn’t do either so I just gave her a second dose of infant Advil before bed. She got MMR and Varicella both today.
I spoke with the pediatrician about the Thimerisol in the shots and he said that the manufacturer willingly removed it. Whether or not the offices discarded the old formula was up to them. He showed me the label though and it was thimerisol free. He said that it is not consistent by state though so you may want to check locally and "abroad" as well if you are going to be going.
I think most general practitioners have a shot clinic as well for people traveling abroad. My husband has to check with them a month or so before he leaves the country usually because sometimes it takes a month or so for a vaccine to take effect (example the Malaria vaccine for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and India). I’d check with them what their best recommendation is before you go --considering she might need other vaccines to leave the country. Better safe than sorry.
Blessings,
