Bone Densitometry
Sep. 12th, 2002   2:15am

Ashley has a bone densitometry scan tomorrow morning.  The Radiology Department just rang and asked what time we could go in and get this done.  I am aware that it is much different than an x-ray and that they will be scanning the hip area and have read on the net  that they inject a special bone imaging substance into your bloodstream. A few hours later, you will return to the facility to have the actual bone scan performed.  However, she told me to just turn up at 11.30am and I am now wondering if they will have us arrive there and inject this stuff and ask us to return later?  If so I am kind of wondering how long we will have to wait.

Wish I had asked her now but she rang at 6pm and the place will be shut now! Darn..  LOL!

I was just wondering if anyone has had one of these done before without the die stuff being injected.  I am totally surprised here because when we saw the Orthopaed back in May he scripted foot inserts and asked me to get a foot x-ray.  I thought that that would be it.

The woman seemed to be asking me why we had not been to them to get th scan done, but we had never been advised to get one done or sent a form to submit to the Radiology Department so this is totally on the last minute here.

I am amazed that they are doing one.  We have an appointment with the Orthopaed again on November 19th and we will more than likely not get the results of the scan until then I presume!  So any input would be greatly appreciated, but so far I cannot remember anyone posting here about bone densitometry.

Cheers
