FionaHi Anne-Marie
In my reading bone densitometry is what women and men have done to see whether there is any osteoporosis. It is a scan where you lie down and a machine works out how thick the bones are. It is usually done on the hip and the spine.
The other thing that you are talking about is a neuclear medicine bone scan where radioactive dye is injected and shows up any "hot spots" which could be fractures or bruises on the bone.
The first one is really very easy - and then the doctors read the output against age related norms.
Hope this clears things up for you
All the best for tomorrow.
Fiona
