Teresa O.Hi Kirk,
My heart goes out to you, we have a beautiful little girl who will celebrate her 1st birthday Oct. 2. We rushed her to the ER in an adrenal crisis at two weeks old, not knowing of course what the problem was. They told us 2-3 more hours and we would have lost her. We have two boys who have always been very healthy, so needless to say it was a great shock.
We stayed in peds. ICU for 2wks. To make my story shorter, just learn all about the disease you possibly can, my husband crammed himself into books, internet and literature the whole time we sat in the hospital. I sometimes think he knew more about CAH than the Endo. Our daughter Mollie was blessed by not having the ambiguous genitalia, but she does have SWCAH. We have had a really great year.
Mollie takes a 1/4 tablet of cortef at 6am, 2pm and 10pm, and she takes a whole tablet of florinef at 6am. we have to give her zantac at her 6am dose to help with her tummy. I know what your going through right now is horrible but trust me, in just a years time I’ve learned to cope, I still have my bad days, wondering what her future holds for her, but we have strong beliefs and alot of faith and I guess that is what gets us through every day. I hope I have’nt been too long winded, I’ve never left a message on this site, but I read your story and felt led to try and give you some comfort.
Enjoy your precious son!
Teresa O.
