T scores on scan
Sep. 13th, 2002   7:27am

I had a chance to do a search for normal ranges where the bone densitometry scan is concerned and I think I am right in thinking that Ashley’s scores bring him within the normal ranges which is good.

"If the T score is between 0 and -1 SD- this is considered to be within normal ranges.

- 1 and 1 2.5 SD    - this is termed osteopenia
below - 2.5 SD      -This is classed as Osteoporosis

Osteopenia is the name for the category between normal and Osteoporosis, when bone is less dense than the average but not thin enough to be classed as Osteoporosis."

Ashley’s Scores for the scan were as in the chart:

-0.3
-0.2
-0.3
-0.1
-0.2

Total BDM score was 0.730mg/m2

I am presuming from that that as he falls between the 0 and -1 that he is within normal ranges for his age which is good news.  I won’t know for certain until November when we see the OsteoPaed, but it looks good looking at those figures.
