It is a relief Kay.  If ever there was a kid that would have the bone loss I thought it would be him when I first found out some months ago that he was on 10mg per night from 3yrs to 7yrs and what that could mean in terms of healthy bone density.

Also he goes to Intermediate School in January and things are a little more sturctured there and as he enjoys playing sports, I do want to feel comfortable in the knowledge that we checked his bones out first to make sure there would not be a problem.  He wants to play rugby though which is a worry!  Mind you with his height and speed when he runs, he would probably be able to dodge some of the bigger guys more effectively!

Since going on the new dosing regime, he is 100% better alround actually, energy wise and emotionally.  So things are much much better than 2 years ago thats for sure and the bone density scan has really been a God send after worrying.  I must admit I did have some worries day before yesterday wondering what would be the results and how I would handle that, but the lady looking at his scan said that he looked to have if anything a really good bone density despite being on steroids since birth!  That some kids without his medication don’t have as good a bone density due to diet and stuff!  All’s well that end’s well.

Cheers
