Having the letter from the doctor was the idea of the person that answered the phone from the airlines.

 We are flying from the East coast to the West coast ( going to Vegas!  not for the casinos though ) I made a point to get a flight that stops about half way. It will be me and a 5 year old and a 17 month old. It should be interesting to say the least!!
