I should imagine they would probably cover breast reduction too due to the health problems caused.  But with all the hype around silicon implants leaking etc, somehow, if they covered that and something went wrong health wise afterwards due to the implants, they would end up having to cover for the health problems create by that too.  I guess that would be the way they look at it.

With hair removal, I would imagine in some cases you could get insurance coverage if there was nothing you could take to prevent it.  However, with CAH or LOCAH there is a way of curing the problem so to speak.  So as most insurance companies cover for med’s and stuff, and it so happens they cure the problem, theoretically, by not taking med’s, your causing your own problem I guess.  I have no idea how your insurance works over there, but  guess I am thinking from their perspective--knowing how insurance works.  The only insurance we have is house related, and as with anything, if it is wilful--they won’t cover the majority of the time.  Now if it is out of your control and you DON’T have LOCAH or CAH, and it is causing you stress and depression, I guess ironically they would cover that because in that scenario, they don’t put people on steroids just because they have extra hair.  The people in the latter situation cannot therefore take anything orally to solve the problem and need laser removal as a permanent solution.  I guess if you had been actively treating your LOCAH and CAH for years and it had NOT solved the hirsutism, they would cover that though hopefully.
