re: dosing and admistering to infants

Hi Shannon,

My son is 15 months old. At a month old he began his cortef. The late night dose (usually 11 or 12) I put the pill on a baby coated spoon. I put a few drops of milk or water on it and then let it sit for a few seconds. It disolves pretty easily. At first, I would have my husband help me turn Jackson over because he would flip over onto his belly then my husband would squeeze his cheeks gently and I would stick the spoon in. It slid right in being that it’s coated. It was the easiest fastest way. He wouldn’t wake up, just swallow and flip back over.  You just have to get the little coated spoons that are not to flat. Don’t put too much water on it either. When the pill dissolves it’s just makes the liquid thick enough to not really spill and easy enough for the kido to swallow! It has worked great for us for the last 14 months!

I wold use the method above for the other doses too but then one day I got stuck out of the house without a spoon or liquid just his pills. I just popped it in his mouth and ever since then, he just chews it up. I still of course do the dissolving thing at night because he can’t chew without being woken up and I don’t want to do that!!

So, try that and see how it goes. Now it’s so easy to give him his pill I don’t think twice about it.

Good luck. Let me know if that works for you.

Sandra
