re: Growth Hormone and Cortisol

It is just that unless they have administered GH in injection form and then checked the blood serum to monitor what is happening from 10pm onwards when the cortisol levels should be up due to the large bed time dose, how can they affirm in reality that giving GH is indeed not a complete waste of time.  For example if a dose or injection for GH is given at say dinner time (that being 5pm) and then a large dose of hydrocortisone given at say 10pm, GH would only be working for 5 hours anyway.  Then also the growth after 3-4 am when the 10pm dose has worn off.  So it could very well be that they are possibly exposed to more GH than they otherwise would without being injected GH.  However, rather than go injecting something like that into a child, wouldn’t it be much much simpler to remove the problem is what I meant.  The problem is obviously the late night dose where it should not be.  This would fascilitate GH and remove the need to give the child an extra drug.

There have been studies for years now about how corticosteroids suppress GH.  Why is no Doctor paying attention to that.  Why are there still Doctors even contemaplting giving GH to a child in injection form instead of re scheduling their dosing like the circadian dosing?  Is it because the knowledges have not got as far as the Doctors who are using these methods?

The knowledge is everywhere.  I am convinced that if people switched to the correct way of dosing their kids, that in their final height potential would be improved.  They would not need other hormones supplemented either.  There is talk of removing adrenal glands and giving adrenaline and the GH issues.  At the end of the day, there is only one deficiency where CAH is concerned and it is a worry that some Doctors think to remove adrenal glands--when it is basically going to make a childs future and health a lot lot worse.  Half the time I wonder if it is going to take a parent studying Endocrinology and gaining  medical qulaifitcations needed before changes will be made and people sit up and take note and get it.  When writing to two Doctors involved within that study recently, I felt that they really were nowhere  near on the verge of thinking like this.  That to me was depressing.
