robertaI am not sure and don’t remember if the blood levels (sodium and cortisol) being an issue until the baby was at 48 hours old because I think that the mother’s blood supply to baby is a factor so there is no fear of an adrenal crisis. I had four children (with my second husband and we carry the gene for CAH) and three with CAH. I had a C-section with the second child and three vaginal deliveries. The c-section was because the baby was turned side ways and may have died if not for c-section. She had CAH and was okay during the whole thing (during and after). With Adam (now 4 years old), I knew he had CAH and they didn’t test for it until he was 48 hours old and it was not an issue during the birth or immediately afterwards. They of course took sodium levels immediately after birth but not the 17-OHP (hormone levels) until he was 48 hours old.
Did you get genetic testing? Do you and your husand carry CAH genes? Did you get an amnio to see if the baby has CAH?
Congrats on the new baby!! Any names yet? Due date?
