Anne-MarieWell if you know that your having a CAH child and there is fetal distress, I would insist they do something to speed up the birth that is for sure. Also, if past labours have ended in that kid of thing, I would discuss that also because sometimes women have this problem due to small pelvis and it occurs with every birth. My two sisters have had 6 caesars between them due to small pelvis’s. No normal births. One sister’s first baby was born with a square shaped head because she lodged in the pelvis and they let her go in labour for too long before they decided to operate and perform caesar. It really is a big deal and when the baby passes faeces in the amniotic fluid, so they can tell by swabbing that that the baby is in distress. The waters have a green color to them. That also means higher risk of infection if they don’t act quickly enough after that. You probably know all this anyway, but I would definately get them to look at planning things around that happening if your last labour was a problem.
I don’t believe for one minute that fetal distress would not cause an adrenal response in the baby at all in that situation during labour or a crisis. That is like saying that a girl cannot be exposed to androgens because ther is none produced because the babies adrenal glands are not working in utero. only when they are born!
