I have not had any trouble getting solucortef recently, either (CT); however I have read that there is a shortage of it.  It is listed on the govt website that keeps track of these things  (it’s listed as hydrocortisone sodium succinate).   http://ashp.org/shortage/#shortages  Also, a few endos have mentioned it on the yahoo groups website.

Given that, it’s probably good to be cautious, but not panic.  If someone really can’t get it from their pharmacist, I would talk to your doctor about being prepared with an alternative, in the meantime.  There are injectable forms of dex and prednisone that can be used, in a pinch.  They don’t have the same salt-retaining properties, though, so you may need to give something else, in addition, in a real emergency.
