I think we will agree to disagree here Debbie.  You must have had some wonderful Doctors and that is great.  We have had many due to moving around a little and problems with various ones, and I have only met ONE that I really felt was ok.  Sadly he is up north like I said and I am at the other end of the north island.  He did come to see us twice yearly, but then we were left to the mercy of the health system here inbetween.

When something is wrong with my car it can wait---it’s no big deal.  If something is wrong with the way I dose my child or the way the Doctor monitors him because Doctors are ignorant and don’t update their knowledges, that can’t wait and needs action.  There are only a few nmol/Ls that make the difference between my kid growing right and my kid NOT growing right.  Ashley had been through quite enough really.    He will not be have been a child for much longer had I followed religiously what the Doctor said and did.  I had been patient and polite for long enough.  Ten years in fact... and as far as I was concerned, It was time to get heavy and not give a &*% about who it offends.   Do they care when they offend me or when they do something treatment of monitoring wise that affects my child??  No, they sleep at night and write it off to the child being difficult to control.  Meanwhile, I am left with the responsibility of  really knowing what damage all those med’s are doing at night, and the lack of blood tests that were done.  Something had to give and it wasn’t gonna be my sanity or my son’s childhood and rights to a quality health during it and beyond.

If it sounds to you like I was  irresponsible and hard, then to be honest, I have to say that I am no m more irresponsible than others continuing on the conventional regime and having these knowledges am I?  No more irresponsible than the Doctor that insists that I wait or do not change when I have patently pointed out the benefits and then the problems with staying on conventional dosing.  It doesn’t matter to me anymore whether I get respect or what from Ashley’s Doctor.  All that matters is that what I am putting in his mouth every day --I feel good about the way we are doing that and comfortable.  If Doctor’s cannot understand that much, and feel it is non- compliant or irresponsible---then they ought to walk a mile in a parents shoes and have one of THEIR kid’s taking this gunk!  AT THE TIMES THEY RECOMMEND IT TOO!!!
