Nope .... sorry!! This is exactly the amount our SW daughter was on for the first year of her life. I know it’s terrible...!!! She fought it, and cried and gagged ... I don’t know who cried more: me or her! We used a liquid form of the salt, so that the 1 g was dissolved in roughly 1cc of water (I tried it several times, and it was so strong it burned my lips). We finally would just give it to her in one or two squirts - get the coughing and gagging over with quickly - and then I’d put her on the breast immediately. It seemed so MEAN, but of course it’s vital for them. By the time that she was eating a sufficient amount of table food (at around 1 yr) and we were able to finally stop the extra salt, she actually didn’t mind it too much: she would open her mouth for it, and not even be finished swallowing before she was already looking for the breast or a cup! I must say that she STILL loves salty foods, and whether this is due to a craving because of the CAH, or just "getting used to" the taste (or both?), is anyone’s guess. You can definately double check the amount of salt with another doctor if you feel you uncomfortable, but I’m thinking that it’s probably just one of those awful parts of CAH that you’ll have to get used to.
