I hated quartering the 10 mg pills (cortef).  I worried about the amount.  Was I giving cortef or compound that it was mixed in??? I feel better with the 5 mg cortef pills.  I quarter 10 mg pill is JUST SO SMALL.

Too much cortef - the child is usually too fat and too short.  So not enough cortef - too thin (and prone to adrenal crisis).  Not enough is TOO scary!! Do you have solu-cortef injection kits???

My son, Adam (turned 4 years on 29 July).  Now he is taking 2.5 mg cortef three times a day (5 mg tablets - which are easy to divide - they have a line to divide).  He seems to do better with the 5 mg cortef pills than the 10 mg ones - divided into quarters. He takes florinef  - 0.1 mg one a day in the am.  He has salt wasting CAH (classical form)

I would make sure the 17 OHP levels are not too high or not too low.  Also the bone growth x-rays are very hard for some doctors to judge accurately. A year one way or the other ... may be a miscalcuation.

You should look into the NIH (National Institute of Health), or John Hopkins.  Go to the CARES web page for more information and links on adrenal crisis.  Also CARES has information on free travel assistance for medical treatment.
