Macarena,

I can only imagine how upset you must be. First though, why do you think your son is deaf? Here in my state ( Texas)  they test all newborns  hearing. I’m not sure what they do in Spain. I don’t think and I have ever heard of any connection between CAH and loss of hearing.  I don’t believe that the medication would cause it either. I really think it would not be associated with his CAH but I’m not a doctor so I don’t know.

I would suggest that you get your son checked, if you haven’t already, by a doctor who can test his hearing. I don’t know what else to suggest other than that. Maybe you can also check with your endocrinologist to see if they have had any other CAH kids with this problem.  I hope you have a good family support who can help you through this tough time. Please don’t despair, he will be ok. Please let us know how he does at the hearing tests.

Hoping for the best!

 Sandra
