Anne-MarieI have to find out what is the difference of the distance between Corpus Christi and Sugarland from here. I like Sugarland because it is the way we go to Houston and I wouldn’t have to drive through Houston to get there. What doctors are there? Is that where Dr. Gunn is? Doctor Ponder did tell me that Dr. Geseko LIKES to treat CAH.
No one said anything about keeping the 17 OHP levels down under 100 ng/dl. I really need to know what I think I’m talking about..LOL
**No they are meant to be between 500-100ng/dl. Lower than 100 ng/dl is not good unless she had just had meds an hour before or something before the blood draw.
Anne please help me to find out what Taty’s body mass is. I don’t know if he is saying 14.5 is her body mass or if he was thinking she was taking 14.5 and they have her on 22.5mg a day. He said sarcastically, YOU DO KNOW ABOUT THIS DON’T YOU? YOU SAID YOU DID. On the note I left him, said I knew of it, but that didn’t mean I knew how to do it. I also wrote that he should be more open to parents that are asking questions to learn more about what is happening to our children’s bodies. He didn’t have to be rude or sarcastic to prove his point or his view on the situation.
**We got this too. In the end everything I discussed with the Doctor at each appointment was taken either literally--ie. changing to the way he doses, they stuck with the same percentages when he was sick instead of taking the whole daily doses and tripling and dividing into three---or when we emailed with concerns, this was ignored. It just isn’t good enough when you have concerns and they need to be dealt with and there is only one person in the Hospital that can answer them or deal. What is her height and weight again now as you needthose to use that body mass calculator?
All of this hostility came from me not wanting her to have her privates checked everysingle time! Thats crazy. You know I HATED when I went to a new doctor and the first darn thing they wanted to do was get a look at it, or see if it was different! That used to make me cry. Like I would go in for a darn cold or something and they would ask if I needed to be looked at or when was the last time I had a pap smeer or a pelvic exam. I remember that happening lots of times.
** Anyone would feel upset really about that. It’s not necessary to do that at every appointment for a girl when they can check other things that will tell them what is going on really. Neither for yourself.
On a better note, I have the sweetest GP, he said he is willing to learn about this with me and accepts all the info I give him. He only has 2 patients with CAH. Dr. Bidwell even asked me if I would feel more comfy if a female doc did my exam, so he could send me to a gyno. I figured, hey I’m already paying for this appt, might as well get it done and over with. I wish all doctors were like him, he even calls me himself. He called me Friday to see if I was doing better, WOW. You really only run across those wonderful doctors once in a blue moon! I’m sticking with this one as long as I’m here in Texas!
**Thats good! I have had many Gp’s for Ashley during the course of ten years, but none of them have had other patients with CAH. The last one we had, I rang first to discuss it before he took us on. I told him that Ashley had CAH, and he said, "Oh lucky you!" He was a good Doctor, but I changed because I felt more comfortable with a female Doctor to be honest. The Doctor we have now is a mother and has 3 or 4 children and I felt that was good idea. Doctors in the town where I live close at 5 or 6pm and it’s emergency Doctor after that whereas in the city center they are open later. If we did see a Doctor here, we still had to go to town for the script. So we changed. At least you have someone to go and see if you need some support though by the sounds of it and that has got to be good.
Thanks Sandra, I hope this Endo is good! We’ll see, we won’t see her till the end of Jan.2003
