Hi Milton,

First, I am wondering why you feel so different from everyone else in your family? You type of CAH may be Simple Virilizing Classical or Late Onset CAH (Non Classical).  Everyone with CAH is supposed to be on medication for life. Some who are Non Classic CAH might have times when medication is not needed. The reason to stay on medication is first and foremost to prevent any crisis. Some other good reasons would be to stay fertile and to keep from being masculinized. Now for a man the last reason is not that important, at least not to me. Oh, by the way, I have 3 boys and my youngest (16 months) has Simple Virlizing CAH. Meaning he has Classical CAH but is not a saltwaster.

You would be surprised as to how many people really do have CAH! In my town, I just happened to run into a mom at my son’s pediatrician’s office who has a daughter with CAH. She lives less than a mile away!! There are actually quite a few around here. So, don’t feel like you are the only one. I thought that of my son and boy did I find out different.  We also had a workshop for CAH families here in Houston last April and we had about 75 families!

Would you mind sharing for us how tall you are? I  really am curious to see why you feel so different.  I have been thinking about how to make sure my son doesn’t feel different than others. I want him to know about CAH but I don’t want it to be his definition of himself. If you could please share I would appreciate it.

Thanks and welcome to the mb
