Hi Milton,

Thanks for your response. Your height is great!! 5’10" is a good height!!! I am glad to hear that your difference is in how you are built and that your CAH hasn’t made you feel different from anybody else. Yes, your pred can be some of the cause of weight. Too much or too little meds can affect your weight or appearance of weight. Your build though may just be luck!  My 4 yr old is built very stocky and buff. He is non cah but he is big!! Everyone that sees him says I have a football player on my hands! My 16month old son, who has the SVCAH, is also stocky but he is average in height and weight right now. I am happy with that and I want to make sure I do everything I can to help him get to his genetic potential for height!

I’m not sure about the hair thing... I’m sure some of the other parents who have been dealing with this much longer than I have might have some insight for you. At least you are positive about it!! Shaving your head is a good way to deal with that!!

One more thing.. Is there anything you think your parents did right in helping you accept CAH as part of your life and not your "entire life".. I like your attitude. I hope you don’t mind sharing.

Oh, to answer your question about CAH being hereditary, yes, your parents each passed on a mutated gene to you and that is how you got CAH. Your siblings if not affected with CAH maybe carriers or maybe not. The Genetics of it is very interesting. If you got married you would want to test your partner for CAH before you have kids. That way you know what you will be dealing with.

Thanks,

Sandra
