re: piercing trouble?

When I attended Hairdressing College, a few on the younger girls went along together to get their navels tatoed, pierced or their tongue’s pierced.  Mostly the ones that had pierced tongues seemed to be on liquid diets through a straw for a few days as their togues became quite swollen and sore.  It was uncomfortable to eat apparently due to any solids touching the piercing and hurting the tongue.   Seemed to heal within a week.

I noted with amusement that after a few weeks when the novelty wore off, that some couldn’t stand the piercing there all the time and took it out.   Once out, they could not get the piercing back in and the hole closed up.   That was the end of that.

I should imagine there would be a  risk of infection afterwards which you would need to be prepared to increase your med’s with if that happened.  That or any reall painful swelling may need a couple of double dosings.  I guess you would have to play it by ear.
