Since posting this email on the 1st, I have let him sit in the carts, play with public toys, etc.  When we were first told about our sons condition, the doctors and residents told us that every time he got sick he would end up in the hospital.  This is why I have tried to protect him as long as possible.  We too have an older child who attends the first grade and is ecxposed to all sorts of crud.  Our son has been sick here in the last two weeks with a high fever and came through it just fine.  I know that I cannot protect him from everything, but I was really afraid by what we had been told by doctors and doctors to be.  I have learned a great deal from visiting this website.  I appreciate all who have responded.  I will let him be a little boy and not a china doll.
