Yes, my14 yr old was diagnosed non-SW at the age of 3 and started florinef about a year or so later. We were told this would help the Cortef work better - and we were having problems with bone age advancement at the time. Sure enough, we started the florinef and things got better. That was 10 years ago. Recently, my daughter was experiencing some high blood pressure which turns out to be the result of another medication (Vioxx) which she was taking for another medical condition she has. At the time we took her off Vioxx, the endo had us take away the Florinef as well. 5 days later my daughter was very sick. We started the florinef back up and gave her canned soup with the highest sodium content we had in the house - and she added salt. She even drank Gatorade. The doctor warned if she did respond quickly to the increased salt to get her to the hospital. Well, she was better very quickly. Now they say they believe she is "a salt-waster to some degree". My own theory is that all our CAH kids lose some salt - some lose more than others and are termed salt wasters - others probably lose such a small amount that they normally can make it up in their diet. I believe my daughter loses a small amount on a daily basis and the florinef she was taking (to help the Cortef) actually was necessary for her sodium levels. Now that she is back on the florinef, she is feeling much better and blood pressure is not a problem for her on florinef.Kay
