Tina A.Just wanted you to know how moved I was by your post. Your family will be in my prayers. My husband and daughter both have SWCAH. While my husband’s parents had to deal with many crisis situations, we have been very lucky with our daughter. She is 4 and, aside from hospitalization when she had her surgery, has only been to the ER once when she was about 18 mos. and had a febrile seizure. At her last endo appt, our doctor thought he detected some breast tissue development and she had a couple of pubic hairs, so her meds were adjusted. Hopefully the meds adjustment will stop any precocious puberty before it becomes a serious problem. At about 4 mos. old, she had a menstual cycle and I could feel breast "buds" developing - she had her meds adjusted then as well and it stopped immediately. You are so right when you say that each of our children is unique in this and their needs are not universal.
My husband was constantly in and out of the hospital until about age 5 and was "near death" too many times to count. However, as he grew, he was sick less and less and reached a height of 5’7". We have been together for 10 yrs, since we were 17, and I think he’s been sick maybe 3-4 times during that entire period, never enough to need medical attention. Just hang in there - your son may grow to be the same, the worst may already be behind you.
Congratulations on the dog - that was certainly exciting to learn about! I hope your family will benefit from her in many ways - the name is adorable. Best of luck to you all!
