Chris DWhat a coincidence. My son’s endo just mentioned this to me at the appt today. We were discussing my son (who is just 4 yrs old, so unfortunately I can’t give you first hand experience help) and the endo asked if I noticed my son getting either depressed, anxious, or sort of "high". I can’t remember exactly, but I think he may have used the word high. I know I was thinking, yes, sometimes he gets this overly- giddy thing going. I had just chalked it up to him being a goofy kid.
The questions came us when his doc and I were discussing possible dose changes I found this very interesting because my son’s previous endo downplayed any emotional affect. Even though I have, for years, noticed a difference in mood. I have found that when my son is on the highest amounts of hydrocortisone (Cortef) he is incredibly irritable and moody, a lesser amount makes him energetic/giddy (don’t know if this is the "stoned" your doc referred to?) and he seems more "normal" on a lowest dose. He has been oversuppressed for much of the time. So I don’t know for sure what is normal for him. Maybe what I call normal, on the lowest dose, is really depressed? (I have to confess I tend toward the moody side so I never know if it is genetic or med related)
Interesting thread. Do you notice a difference in the feeling if you are on a higher or lower dose?
