re: CAH& teeth

Aimee - I didn’t develop enamel on several of my back teeth when I was young and they were filled in prevention of decay. I do believe there is a connection with steroids and decay - for me anyway. I wasn’t good at brushing and flossing when I was young - only brushed in the morning - didn’t floss at all. And I didn’t have any decay. When I started taking steroids at age 19 my teeth went to hell. I have many fillings now (though I’m vain enough that I had them do composite fillings so you can’t see them) but - I can’t believe the difference. My brother also didn’t have fillings as a child and still hasn’t as an adult (we took fluoride pills as children) - he’s 41 and hasn’t had any. So I think there’s a connection. I’m very careful with my teeth these days - brush a lot and floss regularly - but it doesn’t seem to matter that much. What did also happen to me is that my top jaw grew too slow and my bottom jaw too fast and they never did meet. So because of my bone growth stopping so soon - I have a prominent jaw (you can see it in the pic of me on this site’s banner) That has always been a bother to me. My bite is off and I need jaw surgery to fix it.

Oh also - my mom was 5’4" and my dad 5’10" and I’m 5’2". I quit growing at age 11. My brother is 5’11"
