Anne-MarieI can relate to the itchy ears. I have eczema in mine and nowhere else on my body and have been using betamethasone cream for some time. I have tried to manage without it for some time, but they are quite sore inside. I never related it to the carbs.
I actually thought that when I changed my lifstyle and eating that the problem would go away, but it is still there. Not as bad but enough to cause itching after showers etc and does get sore still sometimes. It is particularly bad on the left side and I was only supposed to put the betamethasone cream in my ear once per week but in the left ear, I had to put it in every other day and now oddly enough the jaw on that side now crunches a great deal when I sometimes bite into a french roll or something that needs me to open my jaw wide. It also sometimes locks too. It does not hurt as such, but it really sounds quite nasty and I was wondering if with putting such a strong corticosteroid cream in my ear if it has somehow been absorbed into that area around the jaw also and caused the bone to crumble. I don’t know what else could have caused it really. It is worse at certain times of the month than others I find. That’s why I stopped using the cream full stop and have been trying to find a non-steroidal alternative, but most of the things that work also have anti biotics in the ingredients and my Doctor was reluctant to keep giving me scripts for one preparation that worked as he said that I could develop a resistance to it and it may stop working for me.
It is a real pain at times. They say eczema is related to diet, and if this is, then even by going on this diet with natural foods, it has not removed the problem fully. I cannot really cut down on carbs at all due to the amount of training and cardio I am doing on this 12 week program. It is vital for the diet and weight loss to be successful and for the muscle repair after intense weight lifting sessions which they are now x3 times per week. One interesting thing though...my asthma has disappeared almost completely!
Ashley has been quite ill over the weekend with it though and he is presently on 80mg per day. I tried increasing to 40mg per day but it just was not touching it--and his inhalers were not even helping. So yesterday and today I increased it again and he is just about feeling better now. I am hoping that we can nip it in the bud really, because he has had increased steroids for over a week now without it touching his asthma. Going to the Doc’s tomorrow. Hopefully it won’t be anti biotics though..
