Anne-MarieThere have been studies to show that it advances bone age when being used in children. If a Doctor is an expert or not, they don’t have any clue how studies will turn out. That is possibly why Marcy is being cautious. Personally a child will get used to a shot if it is warranted. After all diabetic children have that several times a day. That is not the issue of concern. We KNOW that when a child with CAH is underteated, they make more GH---so isn’t this a bit like giving them a shot of it every day also? No Doctor can predict the outcome until ALL children within a study have reached full height potential. Even when they do---will he/she honestly be able to say that child gre MORE than they would without the GH everyday?
It is unfortunate that some children lose so much in height. But to be honest it would be a double blow to find they lost even more with that therapy at the end as opposed to gaining some.
