Dr. New’s hypothesis that GH can help growth in CAH children was somewhat controversial but her recent data shows that it seemed to have helped kids who have advanced bone age."

Has she finished the study yet?  As I said above, until the study is complete and several children, we will not know...but common sense tells me there is no difference between our children making too much GH when under treated and receiving too much GH some days because their steroids hadn’t suppressed them to the level of over treatment every day.  Sometimes children outgrow their doses, and therefore at those times they would be getting the GH shot ans whatever they are making extra in the way of GH too.  It is as far as I am concerned tricky and could end up making things worse.  Even when she finishes that study, she will not have much idea because an estimate for a child of what their height should be is just that.  An estimate.  like here this Doctor has said she will not grow any more than 4 ft 8".  However, with correct treatment with corticosteroids perhaps they can achieve more---who knows.  But do we really know that every day a child get’s a GH shot--that they really NEED that GH shot.  As I pointed out above--some kids go 2-3 months before they are picked up as undertreated--simply because they only take blood tests as often as that---not any close together as far as I knew.  They do not see the need.  Yet at ANY time a child could outgrow their dose within that 3 month period and make larger levels of Gh themselves.  So is the added shot every day not doing damage then?

These are awkward questions..and as much as we would like a magic bullet to sort the problem out--we seriously need to ask these awkward questions of Doctors and put them on the spot from time to time.
