Hello Sandra.

Great to hear from you.  Originally, we had a height prediction of 5"6" - 5’8" (we are 5’6" & 5’10"), however, overdosing when he was a baby/young toddler contributed to the final height. He is not very impressed, but keeps very good physical health (no hospital admissions since he was 2 and  has sailed through all vaccinations and childhood ailments), so is resigned to it.

The annual bone ages have been very useful in two ways - as a cross reference for blood tests and in dealing with teeth issues i.e. braces and wisdom teeth complications.  We were never offered the option of growth hormone, but suspect that this will become more common as more studies are undertaken.

I understand that the NIH completed a new growth protocol study a couple of years ago and that seems to be very promising for kids that are still coming on.

Must say that newborn screening was the life saver as if we hadn’t known about the CAH, he would not have recovered from a couple of hospital visits in his first 15 months.

How old is your son?  Would love to chat and happy to discuss our experiences if you think they might be useful.

Cheers,

Maggs
