17 OHP, Renin levels
Dec. 17th, 2002   12:23am

I have read through the archives and saw the levels of 1yr olds and up but not much on babies levels.  We just got some results back and I wanted to hear what you think.

6 months old SWCAH little girl:

Was on 6.25mg of cortef and .3mg florinef at 5 months and levels were: 17OHP - 10 ng/dl, renin .78 ng/ml/hr, andros <4.

Reduced to 5mg cortef and .2mg florinef and this past weeks results were:17OHP - 25 ng/dl, renin .21 ng/ml/hr.

These levels still seem pretty low to me, any input would be appreciated.

Oh!  Also, I read in the archives about doing the tests in the morning prior to meds.  If she takes .1mg florinef and 2.5 mg cortef at 6:00 am and the last tests were taken at 8:30 (prior results were at 9:30am) would that play a major role in the low numbers?  If so, the lab doesn’t open until 7:30 am (and the long line made us wait until 8:30 for our turn which could happen again) is it safe to wait until afterwards to give the meds?

Thanks beforehand!

Rebecca
