re: Chronic Pain - Stress Level - Medication

I guess it could mean her dose stays that way for a while.  I had Ashley on large doses for longer than a week the other week and I would not have dropped them to be honest as  knew he must need it.

I always ask myself a simple question when this happnes...

If Ashley is ill prolonged and stressed...wouldn’t his own adrenal glands be making higher levels of cortisol in repsonse anyway?  I mean my answer is always yes to that one and it always seems to help me to be more confident when it comes to extending raised doses for an extended period.

His asthma abated after about two weeks, but it took a great deal of the spare cortisone that we had and very large doses of it. I feel myself that had I not done that, he would have had a crisis at some point.  He developed a chest infection and it was justified in my opinion.  Other Doctors may have commented that he doesn’t need it..but then they are not here 24 hour per day and seeing the effects if I don’t.

Glad to hear that you got some attention and that it enabled you to make a decision about the doses.  That is excellent.  Besides helping her cope with stress, I should imagine she will have less problems with inflammation since corticosteroids are anti inflammatory also.   Hope that you see some improvement soon and that the labs improve

Cheers
