CAH and toenail fungus
Dec. 23rd, 2002   12:39am

Hey all - I just lost my big toenail tonight. I have been fighting toenail fungus for several years - but the docs haven’t seemed to take it seriously. I’ve covered it with polish so it hasn’t shown too bad - but the nail split down the middle and broke off. It was only barely attached by the bottom and the nail had turned brown (gross) Actually it started probably about 5 years ago but the nail just turned brown in the last month. One foot (left) is unaffected - but the right one now has fungus on 4 toes and one is fine. My endo said Lamasil would help - but my insurance wouldn’t cover it unless I was diabetic and it cost $200.00 a month for 3 months (and I would have to have my liver checked often). I can’t afford that. I never thought it would get this bad. I have recently changed jobs - from a public school to a private school with different insurance - maybe it will be covered under the new plan. I believe it’s CAH related - either meds or cortisol related - just seeing what has happened with my rosacea on my face from lowering my dose of Dex by .125 mgs a day my rosacea is almost gone. Weird. Can anyone put any light on this one or know of ways to get rid of the fungus? Or a way to get Lamasil for less money? Please help.
