Dear Susan:

Thank you for the Email !  It made a positive difference for me !

I also agree that there is a link between being excessive dosages of the cortisones and Rosacea. From looking at family photo album pictures, I can notice the difference in my complexion and roundness of face. This morning, I looked at the dates on the back of my pictures and crossed referenced them with the case notes from my medical records.

The times of most ruddiness and roundness were at the times of increase dosages. Especially, The one time that it was drastically increased when I was 17, the Endo thought by increases the dosage even through I was in correct range of numbers would lessen side effects, it didn’t and only made things worse. My appetite increase so much that I could eat a house and the hair on my arms increased  so much that I could actually brush them.

This is when I got the idea that not all ENDOS are created equally and the answer to many things is not to throw more drugs at it.I stopped taking the excessive amount of pred that the endo wanted me to and went back to the original dose. I went to another Endo and I asked him to lower the dose a little.

To my surprise, the excessive hair growth thinned out    geeeeeez    do I get off track     and my face wasn’t as red   also, I need to tell ya this   from age 14 to 17   I had the worst case of acne, zits upon zits and red little volcano clusters but bam! soon as I turn 18, all the zits and oily skin was gone. A benefit to having oily skin as a teenager, is know I look five to seven years younger than I really am.

On the flip side, I can look at pictures and tell when I wasn’t taking enough cortisol.   My face was very dusky and pale, those were the two times I wasn’t having anything to do with CAH and came close to not being here because of it.

I recently switched to hydrocortisone from Prednisone and I’m loving it. Maybe, different cortisones for different people at different times of their lives?  and I pray that you all find Endos that are willing to invest the time find out what best suits individual needs  :)

I just went for a bone density test. The results were not good. 32 years old and osteoporosis but I’m going dancing tonight anyway :)  They say that FLOSAMAX  is good stuff right?

I noticed with the Hydro that I have no ruddiness at all and the face isn’t that round. I’ve been meaning to throw out this question for a long time. So. ummm why do people that have LOCAH take something stronger like DEX ? You would think that they could get by taking something like Hydro or pred since that they do make some amount of cortisol unlike people with SVCAH or SWCAH . I question everything, it’s my nature :)
