re: Math problems/concentration

Aimee - Ditto here in the math department. I can whip out a paper in nothing flat - but math - ugh! I remember in high school I would go up to the teacher and ask him how to do a problem - he would tell me and by the time I got back to my desk I had forgotten. It was a hard. I had math right after lunch - and I wonder if carbs for lunch had anything to do with that too. Too many carbs and I’m spacing off. I remember many report cards in the lower grades (elementary school) - before diagnosis said "daydreams too much" - well I know now that it was a result of the CAH. When my cortisol is low I can’t concentrate - I just stare into space. Do you do that too? Math was the last thing I had to finish to graduate from college - I actually walked in graduation in May but had to get a tutor to finish my math class so my diploma says I graduated in August. I ended up with a ’D" - my only one. Frankly I was just so damn relieved to be through with it. My daughter is the same way - she’s 15 and I’ve got a tutor for her - she’s struggling too - but is editor of her school newspaper and won the spelling bee for her school district . Interesting isn’t it. For me - thinking 3D in my mind is almost impossible - can’t do it. At one time I thought of becoming an engineer - but the drafting class I took was really hard for me - I couldn’t see things in my head.
