Anne-Marie - I talked with Don again and he said the fundraiser is just to support the Carmelite Orphanage that they live in. Evidently he started the interest by writing articles in the Croatian/American newspapers and things have gone from there - I guess some older parishoners who have been donating monthly have gotten this fundraiser in Seattle going. It’s a Mass with a spaghetti luncheon and a Croatian musical group will play and a singing group from Vancouver will sing. The cost is $12.00 for adults and they are accepting donations if you can’t attend. I have a phone number if anyone would like to donate. Just e-mail me. He is also sending me info on the orphanage.

Also - here are the steps to adopting them that Don was given by the nuns:

1. They need to give a request for adoption

2. They need to send documents about their ability to adopt a child

3. When they send this they have to contact center for social care in Cakovec and announce they are coming - they need to come to Croatia.

4. When they come and see the children and decide, center will start with urgent adopting process. Everything can be arranged in a week!

5. They need to pay travel for children, translation for documents and passports.

Their parents are alive but they don’t have the right to have contact with the children.

Personally - my life is pretty stable - and I really feel I’d like to do what I can to help these girls out. I’d like to get my students involved too ( I can’t think of a better cause - personally)
