I’m not so sure that what our son has is so mild.  Even though he had no symptoms the night we took him down to the E.R. his sodium was only 120.  I have later learned that this is a low enough level that he could have gone into shock or had convulsions.  Who knows?  If we had put him to bed that night he might have wound up the next morning as one of those mysterious cases of SIDS.  And we would have never found out what caused his death.

That’s why I wish they had a home blood testing kit that can test for electrolytes.  So we could monitor his electrolytes a couple times a week.  Has anyone heard of such a thing?  I know that the diabetics have them for blood glucose.
