Dear Matt, The pubic hair is on unquestionalbe sign of hormone imbalace. CAH must be ruled out. If he does, without a doubt, it is NOT the salt-wasting form. This would have been picked up within the first few days of life. Your little guy would have shown signs of dehydration almost immediately. In the mean time, Is he off the growth chart? Does he have underarm odor? Is he extremely fussy?? Are his genitals enlarged? Theese are signs of an androgen effect,a high testosterone level. What is curious is that it showed up so early. The degree of severity depends on his Progesterone levels. Catching it early is Very fortunate. He will not suffer the ill effects of proloned testoerone exposure.(Advanced bone age)Do you have any family history of genetic diseases? You and your wife have to be carriers. I just found out 3mo. ago about my daughter. She Is 4. She is classic, but luckily not a salt-waster. Her bone age is very very advanced. Hopefully, you have nothing to worry about. If it is CAH,you caught it early and it is a very treatablle condition. I’m by no means an expert but I thought I would reply. I’ve been in your shoes. YOU ARE NOT ALONE? Please let us know the outcome. Best wishes.
