PennyUm, excuse me, but I do know what I’m talking about. I have over 12 years experience supporting PCs, networks and servers in a professional capacity. I’ve been doing it since I was 15. I’ve been on the Internet since before it WAS known as the Internet you see here and have been the admin of several bulletin board systems and Internet sites.
The problem as Danny stated it is that he’s having a problem indexing the message archives because there are too many messages. This seems to be because the messages are not stored in a database format, and are in a text type file, or simply becuase whatever he is testing this process on does not have the horsepower to do so. What OS the user is running does not matter, neither does how the webpage looks to the users. It comes down to how the messages are stored, and what the forum site is running on.
If you wish to continue this discussion with me, please do so by email. I would imagine all the other users of this board are a little bored with this topic.
Thanks,
PenE
