Anne-MarieHi Jim,
17 OHP is naturally higher in Preemie’s and newborns and this is why they can misinterpret the results when a baby is preemis because the more premature the baby is the higher the 17 OHP apparently. Say a baby is born at 32 weeks gestation. Theoretically the 17 OHP could be higher right up to when they reach full term weight and gestation maybe? Could take some time for the levels to come down to match what they normally are in a newborn at birth for example. You say that they did three tests in total. Was one done after what would have been the babies original due date? Have they done genetic tests to confirm the diagnosis in the child?
