LauraKHi Jim,
Congratulations on the birth of your son.
One more thing to keep in mind is the time of day that the blood was drawn, and whether or not meds were given within a couple of hours before the blood draw. 17-OHP is very volatile, rising rapidly according to circadian rhythm (or response to stress), and dropping rapidly after administration of hydrocortisone. The 500-1000 ng/dl range that is often quoted assumes an early morning blood draw before meds. If Ryan’s blood was drawn later in the day, and/or after meds, his 17-OHP would be much lower.
I hope you get a definitive diagnosis soon. Good luck.
