SandraHi Jim,
What an exciting and trying times. Congratulations on your little Ryan. My son was diagnosed through screening as SWCAH. I had DNA done on him because I felt he was more likely a SVCAH. I was right. I, like you though, was hoping that he didn’t have it at all. I also had genetic testing done on myself and my husband and we both have the CAH genes. My husband, SW and I SV gene carriers. In my situation it helped me come to terms that my son had this but it also helped "define" what type of CAH he has. I say "define" because regardless of the type of CAH he has only time and the past will give you an idea of where on the spectrum he is.
I would say getting the DNA would be the next step. I hope it gets resolved for you quickly. Oh, I also don’t think, in his situation that treating him maybe for a few months will harm him in the long run. Of course, I would say do everything as soon as possible because nobody wants our children treated if they don’t need to be.
Good Luck,
Sandra
